2026-03-25: Webinar: “Will the first modular reactors be built in the middle of Europe?”
2026-03-06
Calla – Association for Environmental Protection invites you to a webinar “Will the first modular reactors be built in the middle of Europe?” on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 2 p.m. to approximately 4 p.m. CET.
The webinar will be held in Czech and German language, no English interpretation is foreseen.
The webinar will take place via the ZOOM platform. You will receive the link to connect in advance of the event after registering HERE.
The webinar is primarily intended for non-governmental organizations, but also for active individuals from places where the nuclear industry is planning to build its first modular reactors. The Czech Republic is involved in the Rolls-Royce SMR medium modular reactor project, and the permitting process has already begun at several sites. ČEZ’s plans are most advanced in Temelín, near Upper Austria, and in Tušimice, which would primarily affect Saxony. Industrial companies, on the other hand, are considering the use of BWRX-300 boiling water reactors. We will therefore focus on the safety aspects of these two types. We will introduce you to the nuclear program in the Czech Republic and, in particular, we will conclude by discussing our options for responding to the nuclear industry’s plans.
Programme:
- Opening
- Edvard Sequens, Calla – Current plans for the development of nuclear energy in the Czech Republic, with a focus on modular reactor projects
- Oda Becker, independent scientific consultant in the field of nuclear safety – Rolls-Royce SMR and BWRX-300 modular reactors – technology and safety aspects
- Patricia Lorenz, GLOBAL 2000 – EIA, SEA, ESPOO, Aarhus – what tools do we have and what can we do?
- Discussion
