France starts EIA for lifetime extension
2025-12-05
In France, three old reactors are submitted to an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): Chinon-B and Gravelines 2 and 4.
Both the Espoo Convention and the EIA Directive of the EU require the assessment of alternatives of a project. But no alternatives were assessed. This procedure neither presented energy production alternatives nor a long-term prognosis of the French energy needs.
We also demand that accident calculations with the highest source term for which the risk is not zero and dispersion calculations for all of Europe will be made available.
