2026-03-25: Webinar: “Will the first modular reactors be built in the middle of Europe?”

2026-03-06

Calla – Association for Environmental Protection held a webinar “Will the first modular reactors be built in the middle of Europe?” on Wednesday, March 25, 2026,.

The webinar was held in Czech and German language. The recording will be published here soon.

The webinar was primarily intended for non-governmental organizations, but also for active individuals from places where the nuclear industry is planning to build its first modular reactors.  The Czech Republic is involved in the Rolls-Royce SMR medium modular reactor project, and the permitting process has already begun at several sites. ČEZ’s plans are most advanced in Temelín, near Upper Austria, and in Tušimice, which would primarily affect Saxony.  Industrial companies, on the other hand, are considering the use of BWRX-300 boiling water reactors. We therefore focused on the safety aspects of these two types. We introduced to the nuclear program in the Czech Republic and, in particular, we concluded by discussing our options for responding to the nuclear industry’s plans.
